Thirst
In gameKeep the sound of water near your fire. A Traveler who cannot hear it is already walking toward it.
How thirst builds, where to drink, and what a dry throat costs you.
Thirst is how long it has been since you last drank. It builds faster than hunger: from quenched to parched takes about two days. Like hunger, it counts the hours, not the work.
Drinking
- From your hands. With both hands empty, get close to the water, aim at it and press E. Cupped hands bring a little at a time.
- From a bowl. Fill an empty bowl at the water with Ctrl + RMB, then drink from it with E. You keep the bowl.
Moving, jumping, striking or being struck spoils a drink, the same as a bite.
What thirst costs
- Tiredness. The thirstier you are, the faster you tire, up to twice as fast. See Fatigue and Sleep.
- Slower healing. Half parched, you mend at half the pace. Fully parched, at a third. See Injury and Wounds.
- Poor rest. A dry throat spoils sleep, though less than an empty belly.
- Parched. Once your Thirst ring is full, it does harm every hour, twice as fast as starving. Left that way, thirst kills in about three days.
What makes thirst worse
- Toxin in your gut, up to three times faster.
- Illness, up to twice as fast.
- Some Burdens.
