Rope
In gameA rope is a path for the hands where there is none for the feet.
Drive a spike, tie a rope, and climb where you could not before.
A rope tied high lets you climb walls and cliffs, and come down them again.
Spikes
A Bone Spike is made in the pack from three small bones. See Slab Crafting.
- Set it on the side of a block and it is driven into the wall. A rope can be tied to it.
- Set it on top of a block and it stands as a stake. An animal's lead can be tied to it.
If the wall around a spike is broken away, the spike falls, and any rope on it drops free.
Tying a rope
- Hold a Grass Rope in your main hand.
- Look at a driven spike and press Ctrl + right mouse.
The rope hangs straight down from the spike, as far as it reaches. Grass rope is three metres long. Water or solid ground stops it short, but it is still its full length when you take it back. One rope to a spike.
Gathering it back
Empty your main hand, look at the spike, and press Ctrl + right mouse. The rope comes back to you.
Climbing
- Step to the rope and hold W to take hold.
- W climbs up. S climbs down. A or D steps off to the side.
- Climb past the top of the rope to step off onto the ledge.
- To go down from above, crouch at the edge by the spike and press S to take hold.
- With your feet on the ground at the bottom, S lets go.
- You cannot climb while leading an animal. It cannot follow you up.
